Gornja Rijeka is a municipality in the Koprivnica-Križevci County in Croatia.
According to the 2001 census, there are 2,035 inhabitants in the area, with Croats forming an absolute majority. Inhabitants are very proud of their nobility that was given to some of them by King Bela IV (although, nobility was not given to inhabitants of Gornja Rijeka itself but to inhabitants of some nearby villages like Dropkovec, Vojnovec, Hizanovec, etc., and nobiles are locally known as 'slivari'). In the 19th century Countess Sidonija Rubido Erdody started primary schooling in Gornja Rijeka by initiating building a new school. Today the primary school in Gornja Rijeka carries her name.
